Massage therapy is recommended by the Canadian Cancer Society and is beneficial in addressing many common side effects to breast cancer treatment, including post-surgical scar tissue, axillary web syndrome (cording), capsular contracture, necrosis, chemo-induced peripheral neuropathy, radiation fibrosis, restricted movement, fatigue, and pain. Just as important, massage therapy offers kind, nurturing touch during an inherently stressful time and can improve sleep and lessen the effects of depression and anxiety.
